LINKS Missionary
OFCN LINKS MISSIONARY Dr. Stephanie Doenges Stephanie grew up in Mt. Vernon, Ohio where, as a teenager, she sensed God’s call to missions. This call was directed toward medicine. After graduating from Mount Vernon Nazarene University, she received the M.D. degree from Ohio State University and a M.P.H. degree from Loma Linda University. Stephanie completed a residency in family medicine at JPS hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas and returned to the same institution to serve on the residency faculty until she was appointed as an intern missionary by the Church of the Nazarene in 2008. In January 2009 Stephanie joined five missionary doctors at Kudjip Nazarene Hospital in Papua New Guinea to serve God, the throng of daily patients, and the church. As hobbies Stephanie enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, eating ethnic food, hiking, playing piano and watching Ohio State football. Her heart’s desire is to live each day loving God and sharing His love with the world. Five years after the Texas merger that formed the Church of the Nazarene, the Southern California District began a box work program. The idea was to ship boxes of personal supplies to missionary families. Headed by Mrs. Paul Bresee, this idea was officially sanctioned on a denominational level in 1921 by the group that would eventually become Nazarene Missions International. About 15 years ago, to better personalize our misison program, box work was expanded into LINKS. Thos letters stand for "Loving, Interested Nazarenes, Knowing and Sharing." For two years at a time the general NMI office assigns missionaries to a district. For many churches, LINKS has meant a chance to loving pick out a few things at the store and send them overseas to a missionary family. "Some of our children's biggest thrills come in opening parcels sent by people we have never personally met. Through LINKS we've made lots of friends we've not seen yet." | Verse of the DayWelcomePrayer RequestsSearch |
