ODESSA — Wave McKenna Boyles Jr., 63, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Wave was the ninth of 10 children born to Wave McKenna and Gladys Crouse Boyles Feb. 1, 1940, in Odessa. He was one of the first graduates of Ector High School. He worked as a route man for several companies before operating his own mat and linen service. Wave married Kala McReynolds on May 28, 1989. Their children are Ryan, age six and Moriah, age nine. Wave also has a son, Terry, from a previous marriage.
Wave loved children and sports, especially baseball. He coached little league as a young man and was Moriah and Ryan’s T-ball coach this past spring and summer. Moriah was a member of his championship team. He loved his church and spent many happy hours riding the church bus and working with children.
Survivors include his wife, Kala Boyles; sons, Terry Alan and Ryan Boyles; daughter, Moriah Boyles, all of Odessa; brothers, Don Boyles of Odessa, and Frank Boyles of Tacoma, Wash.; sisters, Polly Stevens of Hamilton and Leona Moffitt of Odessa.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at the First Church of the Nazarene, where Wave was a member, with the Rev. Terry Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Kala requests memorials be given to the children’s program at Odessa First Church of the Nazarene or to Moriah and Ryan’s education fund. Memorials may be sent to the family at P.O. Box 2214, Odessa, Texas, 79760.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
