Mary Louise Lewis
NOVEMBER 3, 2004
ODESSA Rev. Mary Louise Lewis, 103, passed away Wednesday,
November 3, 2004, at her residence. She was born February 3,
1901, in McLennan County, Texas. She married O. W. Lewis on
June 26, 1920, in Wellington, TX. They had one son, Loren
Lewis in 1933. Both men preceded her in death.
Mrs. Lewis received her early education in Hamlin, TX., then
attended Bethany Peniel College in Bethany, Oklahoma, where
she prepared for her life in ministry as a pastor and teacher.
She served as a preaching evangelist and later pastored
several churches. She resigned pastoring in 1952, and moved to
Floydada where she began teaching. Odessa has been her home
for more than 40 years. She was a member of the first Church
of the Nazarene.
Survivors include one brother, Farris Breedlove and wife,
Billie, of Tucson, AZ; daughter-in-law, Jeannine Burnett of
Corsicana; three grandsons, Philip Lewis and wife, LaVon and
Steven Lewis and wife, Betty, all of Odessa and James Lewis
and wife, Candice, of Joshua; two granddaughters, Lori Reese
and husband, Randy, of El Paso and Jessica Weyman and husband,
Robert, of Kennedale; and nine great-grandchildren.
There will be visitation from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday,
November 5, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 6,
2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry
Roediger officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov.
6, 2004, at the Floydada Cemetery in Floydada.
